These are a few of the pieces that came out of the latest firings. The first pitcher is glazed with oil spot glaze, an iron-rich glaze that I have just started working with. If you have your time and temperature just right, the glaze will start growing spots/polka-dots. The turquoise canisters in the middle are glazed with a variation of Pete Pinnell's Bronze glaze. This glaze can produce a full bodied turquoise with a background ranging from soft tan to a strong grey. The top right photo is of pieces glazed with "Cottonwood", a cone 6 glaze that can range from a bright butter yellow matte with iridescent silver-blue streaks to a varigated robin's egg blue, to a glossy mint with pearl colored crystals in it. On the bottom row of photographs, the pitcher on the left and the canister set are glazed with an iron red glaze that was fired in an oxidation (rich in oxygen) atmosphere. The pitcher on the right is the same glaze, but fired in a reducing atmosphere (oxygen has been reduced from the kilns atmosphere). I hope you enjoy the beauty and use of the pieces you choose, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. |
